Timeline and Requirements for Participation-2011 to 2012
Now Scholarships: Current scholarship information and scholarship applications are available in the Counseling Office. SHS Student Scholarship Profile forms, required to receive a local scholarship, can still be returned.
Nov-June Request the registrar to send an official transcript to a college or institution. Official and unofficial transcripts may also be picked up in the counseling office.
Dec

Order your cap, gown, announcements and other graduation accessories. The representative will visit Government & Economics classes.

Cabrillo Honors Pogram Presentation in SHS Library during lunch.

Jan SHS rings arrive for pickup.

Apr 14 Assessment Test for Cabrillo College in SAC West Room 200 @ 9:00 a.m. and 12 noon. Sign-ups in the counseling office. Must due on-line orientation prior too taking assessments tests.

Apr 29 Last day to participate in Running Start. If you are a local Santa Cruz high school senior and have not applied, assessed, and completed your orientation you will not be able to participate in Running Start.
May Caps and gowns arrive. Two dates – 1st delivery for regular orders; 2nd delivery for late orders.
May Inform the Counseling Secretary of your final college placement -- where you have been accepted and will be attending.
May Place requests for final transcripts to be mailed to colleges. Registrar’s Office closes for the summer on June 15th
May 17 Deadline for completing an Adult Education credit class for graduation.
May 18 Running Start - early counseling, enrollment, orientation for Cabrillo College (Assessment required) – 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Cabrillo.
May 25 Senior Prom, Cocoanut Grove, 8-11:30 p.m.
May 30 Choral Concert
May 31 Band Concert
Jun 6 Senior Awards Ceremony, 6:30 p.m. in the multi-purpose room.
Jun 9 Last Saturday School before graduation. All outstanding Saturday School hours must be completed.
June 11 to 14 Final Exams
Jun 14 Graduation practice (mandatory for participation in Commencement) at 1:45 p.m. on the field.
Jun 15 Graduation Ceremony, 12:00 p.m. in the SHS stadium.

Behavior Requirements for Participation in Graduation Activities

It is our desire to have a safe, orderly and dignified close to the school year.

In accordance with established Soquel High practice, students who, during their senior year:

  • Possess, furnish, or are under the influence of alcohol or other drugs at a school-sponsored event,
  • Engage in acts of battery or other violence,
  • Engage in acts of theft or vandalism,
  • Are suspended for any other violation of CA Ed Code 48900, or
  • Have not paid in full any fines for parking violations, textbooks, etc., will be denied the privilege of participating in the graduation ceremony and other commencement activities.

Diplomas for those not eligible to participate will be issued through the mail.
