SPORTS
WATER POLO –Congratulations to both of our Varsity Water Polo teams! The boys are the SCCAL league champions, and the girls team tied with Santa Cruz for the SCCAL title. Both teams advanced to the CCS play-offs and are scheduled to play in the quarter finals this weekend.
The 7th seeded Soquel boys won their 1st round CCS playoff game, beating Aragon High 10-9 in a hard-fought battle, and will play in the Quarter Finals against 2nd seeded St. Francis of Mtn. View on Saturday at 11:20 at St. Francis High School.
The Lady Knights beat Presentation High of San Jose 11-3 Wednesday night in the first round of the CCS playoffs at Aptos High. Soquel, the No. 5 seed in the tournament, advances to play No. 4 Castilleja High at 12:40 p.m. Saturday at Independence High in San Jose.

CHOIR NEWS
CONGRATULATIONS to our five students who made the Regional Honor Choir. They are: Kevin Wulf, David Melendy, Brandon McBride, John Lesui, and Cindy Case.
The Soquel High Concert Choir will perform with the Cabrillo Women’s Choir on Dec. 2nd at 3:00 Cabrillo Theater.
The Soquel Choir’s Winter Concert is Dec. 12th at 7:30pm in the MPR.

COAT DRIVE FOR KIDS - Soquel High NHS has teamed up with Classic Cleaners in its annual coat drive for kids. Simply drop any gently used jackets or coats by Mr. Siddens room (206) and NHS (National Honor Society) will take them to Classic Cleaners to be cleaned and distributed to children in need. FROM THE COUNSELING DEPARTMENT
SENIORS needing to know if they’ve demonstrated readiness for CSU college-level English courses should check the back of last year’s STAR test results. Explanation of these Early Assessment Program (EAP) statuses can be found at www.calstate.edu/eap. Anyone who can’t find their STAR test results from last year can come into the counseling office and inquire with Denise Weber, school registrar.
SENIOR CONTRACTS. Seniors have until Nov. 13 to make an appointment in the counseling office to see their counselor for a graduation contract.
TESTING
ACT: Register by Nov. 15 (late registration fee required) for the Dec. 8th ACT. December is the last test date for fall admission at most four-year universities. The late registration deadline for the December SAT test was Nov. 8th.
SCHOLARSHIPS - Current college scholarship information is now posted on our web site, and updated frequently. Please look under the scholarship tab.
COSMETOLOGY – Juniors who are interested in taking cosmetology as a senior should attend a mandatory informational forum sometime this school year. The forums are offered on the second Monday of every month from 1-2 p.m. at the Shoreline School of Cosmetology, 189 Walnut Ave., Santa Cruz. The next meeting will be November 12.
