GIRLS BASKETBALL
Go Lady Knights!!!
After beating St. Francis in the SCCAL championship game 57-51, the
Lady Knights wrapped up their 7th consecutive league tournament
title. Congratulations!
They next play in the CCS quarter-finals on Sat. 2/23 at Notre
Dame-Belmont at 4:30pm. #4 seed Soquel plays either #5 seed San
Mateo or #12 seed Sobrato.
The Semi-finals will be held on Wed. 2/27 at 5:30 or 7:30pm at the same location.
The CCS Finals will be on Fri. 2/29 at Santa Clara University.

BOYS BASKETBALL
The Knights finished the SCCAL season as co-league champions with Aptos.
They then went on to the 1st round of the CCS play-offs, where they
lost a heart-breaker (52-51), when they played against San Mateo.

SWIM TEAM
The first swim meet is after school on Friday, Feb. 29 against Aptos
and Scotts Valley. Since the Soquel High pool has just been
closed by the District, all swim events are being rescheduled.

GRAD NIGHT WINE TASTING AND SILENT
AUCTION
Come taste some great wine, browse the terrific selection of silent
auction items, visit with friends, and help raise money so this year’s
seniors will have a fabulous Grad night! The event is tomorrow,
February 23rd from 2-6pm at Michael’s on Main. Tickets are on sale for
$25 at the door or by contacting Vicki Rubalcaba at 475-4897.
SOQUEL HIGH HALL OF FAME
Anyone interested in helping get the FIRST ever Soquel High of Fame
off the ground, come exchange ideas at our first meeting on Monday,

STUDENTS
AUDITIONS FOR THE MUSICAL!!!!!!!!!
Auditions for the spring musical (title to be determined very, very
soon) will be on Wednesday, March 5 and Thursday, March 6 from 3-pm.
Come prepared to sing a song on Wednesday in a closed audition, and to
do a cold reading and learn some dance moves on Thursday. You must come
both days. A piano will be available if you bring your own music and
pianist. A CD player will also be available.
Questions? See Mrs. Kline in Room 602 or the MU. Sign up sheets will
be posted on the stage door. It's the perfect opportunity to take that
singing out of the shower and let the world hear your voice!
YEARBOOK
Yearbooks are on sale now in the Finance Office for $85. Please
make checks out to Soquel High Yearbook. The price will go up to $90
April 1st. If any local businesses are interested in purchasing an ad
in the book, please call Annie Zachan ASAP (ext 220) because time is
running out!
JOB OPPORTUNITIES
The Boardwalk is hiring again for weekends, Spring Break, and
summer. See Cheryl in the front office if you’re interested.
FROM THE COUNSELING DEPARTMENT
DROPPING COURSES – Friday, March 14, is the last day to drop a
course without having it appear on your transcript. Thereafter, a
withdrawal or withdrawal failure will be issued for a dropped course.
COURSE SIGN-UPS – School counselors will begin visiting 10th graders
during their English classes the week of Feb. 27 to help them plan
their courses for next year and beyond. Ninth and 11th graders will
receive course sign-up sheets the week of March 11.
PSAT – Some students have still not picked up their PSAT scores from
last fall’s testing. The scores are available in the counseling office.
A FREE two-week engineering summer institute will be held June 15-27 at
San Francisco State University. The program, sponsored by the
California Department of Transportation and the SFSU MESA program, will
cover “What is Engineering?” and “How to Become and Engineer.” The
institute is for juniors and seniors interested in the engineering and
technology fields. The application deadline is April 4. For information

SENIORS – The FAFSA federal financial aide form and the Cal Grant GPA
verification form are due March 2nd. These can provide thousands of
dollars in cash to college entrants. See your counselor for more
information.
UNIVERSITY OF CA
The University of California has received 121,005 applications for
admission for the fall 2008 term, breaking the record for the fourth
year in a row. Applications increased by 9 percent over fall 2007.
Seniors should be hearing from the colleges they applied to beginning
in March.
