HEY GOLFERS
The spots for the SHF Golf Tourney on May 9th are filling up fast! Reserve your space now. Details and registration forms are posted on the school website under 4th Annual Soquel High Fund Golf Tournament.
If you can’t play, but want to participate, sign up to sponsor the event. The sponsor form is also on the website. You may designate the proceeds to go to any activity, program, teacher, or coach at school.
SPRING MUSICAL
This spring’s musical offering, URINETOWN, the MUSICAL! is a quirky, brash and riotous romp with a resounding and unpredictable resolution. With actors, musicians, singers and flush toilets, you will laugh all the way to the public amenities. The energy and enthusiasm that comes from the production will make you glad you were a part of the magical mayhem.
Please join us on May 16, 17, 23,24,25, 2008 (5 performances), with a curtain at 7:30 PM, and a Sunday Matinee at 3 PM. Tickets-$10, general admission and ASB/Senior Citizens-$8
STUDENTS
10th GRADE HUMANITIES ACADEMY
Students interested in entering the 10th grade Humanities Academy may come to an assessment Thursday April 17th in room 105 at 3:00. Before the assessment date, please pick up an application packet from Ms. O Reilly in room 114.
SENIORS
The Herff Jones Representative will be distributing graduation invitations and announcements on Monday during brunch through lunch in front on the main office. Please come and pick them up. You will be charged a handling fee of $5 if you have to come in later to retrieve them from the office. Be sure and check the list posted in the front office to see if any items were ordered and to check if any balance is due.
The SENIOR LIST has been posted on the window of the Main Office. Check your name to see if it is correct and if it is not go to the Counseling Office and have it corrected. This is the list to order the diplomas, so be sure you check your name by April 15th.
There are many local scholarships that are seeking applicants. Come by the Counseling Office and check out the scholarship drawer. Filing deadlines are fast approaching.

1) Woodworm Birthday Carnival on April 6th:
a) Selling $5 Family Tickets - Raffle opportunity - for every 10 carnival tickets you sell, your name will be entered into a drawing.
So far, prizes are items like SHS: blanket, t-shirts, sweatshirt, beanie, hats
b) Donating popcorn, drinks for food booth
c) Donating your time for 2 hour shifts between 9:30a - 4:30p
2) SOCA Snack bar on April 26th
a) Donating food/money toward supplies
b) Donating your time for 2 - 4 hour shifts (11:30am - 4pm)
3) Anyone who knows a contractor or is a contractor that can help us review the architect drawings - we NEED you!
4) Anyone wanting to help us see restroom/snack bar/entrance dreams come true for Soquel High athletes. Join us for our next meeting on 4/21! If you are interested in seeing the plans, they should be available in SHS office - see Ken or Ron if it is not posted yet. A new colored version is coming soon too - very exciting!

THE CABRILLO SUMMER SCHEDULE is now out and available on-line. The first day that high school students can concurrently enroll is April 14.
JUNIORS INTERESTED IN TAKING COSMETOLOGY next year need to attend one of the Shoreline School of Cosmetology information forums. These are held from 1-2 p.m. on the second Monday of the month at Shoreline. The next two forums will be April 14 and May 12. The sooner you sign up, the better your chances of getting in the course.
DATES FOR HUMANITIES ACADEMY TESTING and ADVANCED PLACEMENT COURSE MEETINGS:
The Honors American Lit writing assessment for current 10th graders will be from 3-5 p.m. Friday, May 2 in the library.
The AP US History writing assessment for current 10th graders will be from 3-5 p.m. Friday, May 9 in the library.
The AP English writing assessment for current 11th graders will be from 3-5 p.m. Friday, May 16 in the library.
A meeting on required summer work (Honors and/or AP US History) for current 10th graders will be from 12:30-1 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, in Room 312.
The Humanities Academy orientation for incoming 9th graders will be from 7-8 p.m. Thursday, June 5 in the library.
A FREE two-week engineering summer institute will be held June 15-27 at San Francisco State University. The program, sponsored by the California Department of Transportation and the SFSU MESA program, will cover “What is Engineering?” and “How to Become and Engineer.” The institute is for juniors and seniors interested in the engineering and technology fields. Soquel High's Wilderness Program will sponsor a high ropes challenge course in Felton on Saturday, April 19th. Participants will be walking, swinging and jumping high above the ground.... so, it will be scary, but fun, and you're harnessed in, so still safe. If interested in this free event, see Ms. Robinson in the counseling office.
COLLEGE BOUND STUDENTS
CABRILLO COLLEGE
CABRILLO HONORS PROGRAM – If you have a 3.5 GPA or a combined SAT score of 1900 you are eligible to be in Cabrillo College’s new honors program. The program is designed to help students transfer to competitive four-year universities and to offer them an enriched college education. See your counselor for more information.
Seniors who want to go to Cabrillo next year should come into the counseling office to pick up their math and English assessment forms. Taking these tests on Saturday, April 19th, will ensure them entrance into “running start” early registration on May 16. A Cabrillo College representative will conduct an orientation session for seniors at lunch on Monday, April 28.

SCHOLARSHIP LISTINGS THIS WEEK
Phil Bassetti Memorial Scholarship Deadline: April 28, 2008
Established in 2004 to recognize and encourage leadership among future wildlife professionals. The award is sponsored in part by the Salinas Valley Deer Benefit, in memory of their past President and association founder Phil Bassetti. There will be 3 scholarships awarded in the amount of $500 each as well as a one year membership in the California Deer Association. Qualifications: High School seniors planning to study wildlife related natural resource programs. 3.0 GPA, scheduled to enroll as a full-time student for the following school term. International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Deadline: April 25, 2008
The IBEW offers 3 scholarships in the amount of $500 each to local high school students who have at least one present or past union member, of any affiliation, in his or her immediate family. A 500 word essay to be submitted. Details in scholarship drawer.
