The SHS Daily Bulletin is a valuable reference where millions of

club meetings, etc. It is also a publication that reflects the
incredible school spirit, ever-present professional demeanor and
dedicated allegiance of our students and, most definitely, our staff to
Soquel High.

CABRILLO SUMMER COURSES: If
you want to take a course at Cabrillo this summer, now is the time to
sign up! Enrollment opened to high school students this
weel. You will need to get a high school release form from your
counselor before going to Cabrillo.
Stop by the second quad during brunch today and look for the ROP TABLE. Learn about the brand new GREEN CAREERS PROGRAM and CRIMINAL JUSTICE classes offered next year.
SENIORS! -- A Cabrillo
representative will be meeting with seniors Monday April 28 in the library at
lunch time. Please be there at 12:15 p.m. sharp to learn your test scores on
last Saturday's math and English placement tests and also to get an orientation
about Cabrillo College. Students who attend the meeting will be excused for
being tardy to their afternoon class.
SOPHOMORES:
Interested in taking Honors American Lit and/or AP U.S. History next
year? You will need to take an assessment, which have now been
scheduled. Honors America Lit. will be on Fri., 5/2 and AP U.S.
Hist. will be on Fri., 5/9. Both assessments are at 3:00 in the
library. See Ms. Miranda in 105 if you have any questions.
ROP CULINARY ARTS CLASS or ROP FIRE SCIENCE CLASS: VERY
IMPORTANT! If you signed up for either of these classes for next year, you need
to go to room 121 at break TODAY.
ENGINE REPAIR -- ROP is offering
an engine repair class this summer to Soquel students, including graduating
seniors. The class will be from 8 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday, June 23 to
July 23, at Santa Cruz High, Room 42. Please register with Farol Henderson or
call 477-5525.
DENTAL ASSISTING -- If you want to
take an ROP dental assistant course next year be sure and attend the mandatory
orientation from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 1 at Harbor High, Portable 1. The
class is open to incoming seniors and very motivated
juniors.
SENIORS
-- Don't forget! This Saturday, April 19, is the time to take the Math
and English placement tests for attendance at Cabrillo next year. Be at
the Student Activity Center West, Room 200, by 8:30 a.m. with your
Social Security number and picture ID. If you have not yet registered
to take the test, do so now, in the counseling office. Also, do
remember to take along your Cabrillo registration papers to the test
Saturday so that you can be in "Running Start" registration for classes
on May 16.
GIRLS SOCCER: Your uniforms need to be turned in to the Athletic Director as soon as possible.
STUDENTS: We
understand that you all strive to be respected of the school and of
others; therefore we want to remind you of some of the aspects of the
dress code. Please consider that the following are not allowed at
school or school events.
strapless or backless tops, spaghetti
string or see through straps, see-through or revealing
material/clothes, pants or clothing worn so low as to reveal
undergarments, excessive exposure of midriff and other areas,, gang
attire or clothing that makes reference to drugs, alcohol, or
tobacco. If, for some reason, you misinterpret the dress code, we will be happy to loan a cover-up garment to you for the day.
STUDENTS: Please
look at the list of Saturday School hours owed posted in the 100
Building next to the Attendance Office. All Saturday School time
must be completed in order to participate in school dances, including
the Prom, and that time does carry over to next year. Those with
remaining Saturday School time at the end of the year will not be able
to participate in co-curricular activities (including Fall Sports),
acquire parking permits, work permits, or use the library. Also,
you will not be able to register without a parent conference. It
is each student's responsibility to know his or her Saturday School
obligation. The Saturday School notifications are privided as a
courtesy.
BATTLE OF THE BANDS: ...will be from May 19-May
23. If you want to enter your band into this contest of musical
talent, you must sign up in the front office by Friday, May 2.
SCHOLARSHIP
-- The deadline for college scholarships offered by the Association of
California School Administrators, Santa Cruz Charter, has been extended
to April 30. The scholarships are up to $500 each. Forms are available
in the counseling office.
SENIORS: The SENIOR
LIST has been posted on the window of the Main Office. Check your
name to see if it is correct and if it is notgo to the Counseling
Office and have it corrected. This is the list to order the
diplomas, so be sure you check your name by April 15th.
