SCHOLARSHIPS
ROTARY CLUB OF SANTA CRUZ – Sunrise Scholarship Deadline: April 29, 2008
“Service above Self” is the Rotary’s motto. Students who are planning on attending a 2 or 4 year program at a J.C., College or University, or Vocation/Trade school can apply for these scholarships. See scholarship drawer for an application and details.

FROM STUDENTS AT SOQUEL HIGH
This April, Soquel, as well as all other schools across the county, begin taking the STAR Test. Most students are not aware of how their star test scores effect Soquel High and they do not know that poor test scores have a negative impact at Soquel High. The truth is, STAR test scores do matter! Bad test scores could mean loosing all electives and extracurricular activities, which include all school sports and classes such as ceramics, ROP courses, and band. In turn, these classes would be replaced, and each student would be required to take two math and two science classes. Poor STAR tests also mean that, if the school were to fail, Soquel’s rank would go down, making it harder for our students to get into big name colleges and making the houses surrounding the school have less value. Please encourage your students to treat these tests seriously and give them their best effort. Thanks!
