The SHS Daily Bulletin is a valuable reference where millions of
online viewers seek and find information about school events, sports,
club meetings, etc. It is also a publication that reflects the
incredible school spirit, ever-present professional demeanor and
dedicated allegiance of our students and, most definitely, our staff to
Soquel High.
ENVIRONMENTAL INTERNSHIP -- Want to
take a course next year that includes an internship with an environmentally
responsible business or organization? Then sign up for ROP -- Green Careers. It
will be offered during A4, and there are still a few openings. See your
counselor or Ms. Henderson in Room 121.
WANT TO START YOUR OWN BUSINESS? --
Learn what it takes in only six afternoon sessions at Cabrillo. You will meet
with inspiring business mentors and earn high school credit. If you're
interested in signing up for this course next fall, see your counselor for a
registration form.
Have you ever wanted create your art on a public wall? Legally that is. Well,
the Capitola Art and Cultural Commission invites you to participate
in creating art tiles that will decorate the sea wall along the Capitola
Esplanade. Look for further information on the website in last Friday's Knight
Notes.
WANNA BE A SUPER HERO? .....and save up to four lives? Sign up NOW for the BLOOD DRIVE with a student council representative and get free food, a t-shirt, and extra extra karma points.
CLUB DAY is May 23rd, so get ready
for some fun food in the 2nd quad! If you're in a club, turn your slip in to
the front office ASAP or else you will get eaten by a werewolf. The deadline
for turning in your intent to sell and what items you will sell is May
16th.
ANYONE NEEDING COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS who would like to
help support Follow Your Heart's Katrina Relief effort by working a yard
sale/car wash this weekend (complete with marimba band), please see Tjoni as
soon as possible--before and after school and at lunch in the church lot, and at
brunch in the 2nd quad.
WANT TO LEARN TO SAIL? The Soquel High Wilderness Program
is sponsoring a sailing trip on Sunday, May 18th. Students will be able to get
hands-on experience behind the wheel on a medium-sized schooner heading out of
Sausalito. See Ms. Robinson in the Counseling office right away if you are
interested. The trip is free to students.
The Summer School sign-up forms are finally here. Hurray,
hurray! Come see your counselor and sign up today! Seriously, spaces are
limited, so summer school slots will be assigned on a first-come, first-served
basis. Summer school this year will be at Branciforte Small Schools, at the
corner of Branciforte and Water streets.
SENIORS: Prom Bids will not be sold today. Sorry for the inconvenience. Stay tuned....bids will be on sale later in the week.
A big thank you....to all of the SHS students who volunteered
to help at the Spring Dog Parade and Festival yesterday. The
winner of the iPod is our own Ms. Caterina. The VET SCI. student
that sold the most is Denette Norton ...she will receive 2 movie tickets donated by 41st Ave. Cinema.
SENIORS: Caps
& Gowns: HERFF JONES will be here to hand out caps and gowns
AND and unclaimed announcements and invitations TODAY, May 5 during
brunch and lunch. Anyone NOT picking these items up at that time
will have to do so through Cheryl in the front office at a charge of
$5. DON'T FORGET!!!!!
SENIORS: Please
check list of overdue textbooks posted on the door of the Textbook
Room. Books must be returned or bills paid before yearbook
distribution, prom, and graduation.
CABRILLO SUMMER COURSES: If
you want to take a course at Cabrillo this summer, now is the time to
sign up! Enrollment opened to high school students this
week. You will need to get a high school release form from your
counselor before going to Cabrillo.
SENIORS! -- A Cabrillo representative will
meet with seniors Monday, 4/28 in the school library at lunch time to give them their
math and English placement test scores and also to give them an orientation to
the Cabrillo campus. Please come to the meeting on time, at 12:15 p.m.
Students who are there for the entire lunch period will be given a tardy slip to
their A4 class.
SOPHOMORES:
Interested in taking Honors American Lit and/or AP U.S. History next
year? You will need to take an assessment, which have now been
scheduled. Honors US HISTORY will be on Fri., 5/9. Both assessments are at 3:00 in the
library. See Ms. Miranda in 105 if you have any questions.
ENGINE REPAIR -- ROP is offering
an engine repair class this summer to Soquel students, including graduating
seniors. The class will be from 8 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday, June 23 to
July 23, at Santa Cruz High, Room 42. Please register with Farol Henderson or
call 477-5525.
DENTAL ASSISTING -- If you want to
take an ROP dental assistant course next year be sure and attend the mandatory
orientation from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 1 at Harbor High, Portable 1. The
class is open to incoming seniors and very motivated
juniors.
BATTLE OF THE BANDS: ...will be from May 19-May
23. If you want to enter your band into this contest of musical
talent, you must sign up in the front office by Friday, May 2.
SCHOLARSHIP
-- The deadline for college scholarships offered by the Association of
California School Administrators, Santa Cruz Charter, has been extended
to April 30. The scholarships are up to $500 each. Forms are available
in the counseling office.
