DRAMA AUDITIONS

The Knights of the Square Stage will be hosting open auditions on Thursday and Friday, Sept. 25 & 26,  in the MU from 3-5 p.m.for the murder a la carte mystery play, "A Fatal Combination." Thiswill be a cold reading and all potential actors and actresses andtechnicians can see Mrs. Kline in Room 602 if you have any questions.


SCHOOL-WIDE FUNDRAISER

Weare selling tickets to win a Camery Hybrid starting this week! Allgroups are invited to participate.  Everyone and anyone canparticipate.  Kathy Grant will be distributing tickets on a firstcome-first served basis on Thursday, 9/25,first to those that signed up with Principal Ken Lawrence-Emanuel, withAD Ron Myers, or with me (Kathy Grant).  If you have not signed up,please call asap, 439-7774 day#, 475-8884.  We are only being allottedwhat we sold in 2006 - we can get more but need to sell what we havefirst before we commit to more.


SOQUEL SPORTS FOUNDATION NEWS           

BINGO KICK OFF!!!  Grand Opening - Tuesday, September 23rd, at the SC Elks Lodge, 150 Jewell Street, Santa Cruz (down the street from Dennys).  Doors open at 5p; warmups at 6:15p; and games at 6:30p. Sports teams - sign up for your night to earn money! TEST OPPORTUNITIES

The PSAT exam for juniors and interested sophomores will be given October 18. Registration fees of $25 can be made beginning at Back To School Night(Weds., 9/17).  Thereafter, Students may register for the PSAT in theFinance Office. There are a limited number of PSAT tests available.  Registration fees increase to $30 starting Oct. 1.

SAT QUESTION OF THE DAY:  Each day you need to plan on visiting the College Board website to get the QUESTION OF THE DAY.  It's fun!  JUST DO IT! apps.collegeboard.com/qotd/question.do

DRIVER EDUCATION

A class at Soquel High will begin on Sept. 29 and last until Oct. 17. The class will meet in room 701, Monday through Friday from 3-5 p.m. Students must be at least 15 1/2 to register. If interested, sign up in the front office.


WATER POLO RECRUITMENT

The Soquel Water Polo Junior Varsity still needs more players. Practices are 3-5 p.m. Monday thru Friday. Call Marcelo, Varsity coach, 359-6444.

SHS Surf Team:  MANDATORY meeting for all students who plan on surfing withSHS Surf Team.  We need new team members.  Everyone who joins the teamgets to surf.  We also need a team parent.  The meeting will be Weds.,9/24 during lunch in front of the gym.


Girls' Tennis: Tuesday, Sept. 23 -- St. Francis @ Soquel; Thursday, Sept. 25 -- Soquel @ Scotts Valley


Water Polo:  Thursday Sept. 25 -- Soquel @ Aptos: Girls' JV 4 p.m.; Boys' JV 5 p.m.; Girl's Varsity 6 p.m.;Boys' Varsity 7 p.m.


Football:Family Passes are available for $90 and will let two adults and twochildren into all home games throughout the year.  You may purchasethem at home football games, or from Ron Myers, our Athletic Director.

Fri. Friday, Oct. 3 Homecoming Games against Harbor High. JV at 5 p.m. and Varsity at 7:30 p.m.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Twentyscholarships from Good Tidings in the amount of $5,000 each (20 total)will be awarded to students residing in the Central Coast and GreaterBay Area.  Good Tidings is a non-profit charity that empowers studentsto reach their dreams.  The scholarships are awarded to seniors whorecognize the benefits of serving their communities.  All areencouraged to apply, but consideration is given to those of greatestneeds.  Applications are available in the scholarship drawer in thecounseling office. DEADLINE: Nov. 10.


DRESS CODE UPDATE

For student security, NFL, NBA, and major league baseball team hatsand jerseys are NOT PERMITTED at school.  If a student is found wearingsuch items, the item will be confiscated by security or theadministration and will only be released to a parent of the student.
