PLUS Week at SHS

This week, May 20th-May 24th is PLUS Week at SHS.  It stands for Peace, Love, Unity, Soquel.  Everyday this week at break there will be activities taking place.  Monday a couple of students performed (music and rap).  The rest of the week during brunch there will be music, sidewalk chalk and a table set up to sign the peace pledge and obtain a bracelet.  The goal of this year's PLUS week is for every student and every teacher and staff member to wear a bracelet.  Come join us at brunch in the 1st quad to commemorate this week celebrating tolerance.

The Pledge:

Pledge for Peace, Love & Unity at Soquel High School

We believe that we all have the right to be who we are without bias or judgment.  We recognize the insensitivity, bias, bigotry and ignorance are prejudice and discrimination. In order to be fair and respectful people, we pledge to make Soquel High School a better place.

Today we also pledge to honor and respect everyone …no matter what their beliefs, abilities, race, culture, sexual identity, or other characteristics are. In order to fulfill our pledge, we will:

Ø    Be kind and considerate of others and their feelings

Ø    Look at my own biases, get help and work hard to overcome them

Ø    Speak out against hate, bigotry and injustice

Ø    Pledge no tolerance at school, in my community and at home

We are all different, yet we share a community, we share a world!  We share the joys of being fair and tolerant and making our shared communities and world a better place.
