The Catcher in the Rye Music Presentation

The Catcher in the Rye Music Presentation
Due: __________
Find and present 2 songs with lyrics and explain their connection to The Catcher in the Rye using actual quotations from the book.
1. The first song is a song that Holden Caulfield would have on his ipod if he were a real person, alive today.
2. The second song is a song with lyrics that you would recommend to Holden to help him get a grip. The song would inform, encourage, inspire, or comfort him during the mental breakdown he is experiencing. It is a song that you believe would do him good.
To summarize, the first song is one that you believe would already be on Holden’s ipod, and the second song is one that you believe should be on his ipod.
Presentation requirements:
1. Play the first song for us, then read us selected lyrics that you believe reflect Holden’s ideas, state of mind and/or feelings.
2. Explain to us how or why the lines you read to us are similar to the statements Holden makes about his thoughts and feelings and the world around him. To back up your statements, read us actual quotations from The Catcher in the Rye.
4. Play the second song for us, then read us selected lyrics that you believe would help Holden.
5. Explain to us how and why the lines you read to us would help Holden reach for mental health and a feeling of hope regarding his life and/or the world. To back up your statements, read us actual quotations from The Catcher in the Rye.

You may do this project in pairs, with one person presenting song #1 and one person presenting song #2. Speakers are available if you want top use an ipod. Each person must turn in a paper that he or she has written. The paper contains the name of the song, its author, the complete song lyrics with the ones you are reading to us underlined, and an explanation of what they have to do with Holden. The explanation contains at least 2 quotations from The Catcher in the Rye. Pair members cannot share the same quotations.
